Santa Cruz, CA - Emily Reilly won the sole endorsement today of EMILY's List in her race for the State Assembly.
EMILY's List is the country's largest political action committee dedicated to electing pro-choice Democratic women to office. With thousands of members, EMILY's List, which stands for Early Money is Like Yeast, is the biggest financial resource for women running across the country for federal and state office.
Emily Reilly participated in a groundbreaking telephone town hall yesterday, speaking with voters from all over the 27th district about issues ranging from global warming to universal healthcare.
Reilly used the telephone town hall technology to speak with thousands of voters from Boulder Creek, Monterey, Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach, Santa Cruz and other parts of the district. Throughout the one hour call, 4,081 people participated in the town hall.
Emily Reilly was endorsed by the Calitics.com editorial board in her bid for the State Assembly. Calitics is California’s leading progressive political blog.
As a current Santa Cruz city council member and former city mayor Reilly also brings valuable government experience, especially with balancing budgets and finding new revenues, that are desperately needed right now in Sacramento. Her intellect, creativity, and support for budget reform and single payer mean she would be an excellent Assembly member.
