Santa Cruz, CA - Emily Reilly was endorsed today by the United Transportation Union, Local 23. Reilly is running for Assembly in the 27th district, which includes parts of Santa Cruz, Monterey, and Santa Clara counties.
Local 23 of the United Transportation Union represents the Santa Cruz Metropolitan Transit District Bus Operators and the Operators and Dispatchers of Liftline. The Local plays a key role in transportation issues affecting Santa Cruz County.
"I am honored to receive the support of a group that plays such a vital role in our community," said Reilly. "As a member of the State Assembly, I will be a strong advocate for the rights of all workers."
Reilly is a member of the Santa Cruz City Council, the owner of a local bakery, Emily's Good Things to Eat, and a former two-term Mayor. The Assembly seat is currently held by John Laird, who is termed out in January 2009.
